Luce Llerena, illuminated autumn includes in its program a performance by the Llerena artist May López. She returns to premiere her latest work at her house: “Boleros de cine”. Her performance is scheduled for November 26 at the La Merced Cultural Center starting at 8:30 p.m. The price of admission is five euros and the sale, in the offices of the Popular University, is going at a dizzying pace.
In the show and on stage, there are only two protagonists: the bolero and the cinema. The artist assures that many film directors cannot conceive their films without musical pieces and some almost cannot imagine them without one or two boleros. According to her, without music, cinema would not have the same meaning as the directors conceive their script. In her opinion, boleros not only serve aesthetic purposes but are a fundamental part of the discourse that films adopt to communicate a message since they serve to express feelings accurately. For this reason, she maintains, as a result of this cinematographic presence of the bolero in many films, this project arises: Boleros de cine.
With “Boleros de cine” May López surrounds herself on stage with a piano, double bass and drums: musicians of proven quality. The Llerenense artist presents her new show as an audiovisual concert that speaks and tells the truth of life from the most sentimental and romantic side of it. Songs that we keep in our soul and that we relate to movies that are in our memory, she says.
This show awakens dormant feelings in the viewer and can cause an intense emotional response. A way to relive emotions and enjoy music with a cinema atmosphere. This concert is born intimate, to be taken little by little, with a heartbreaking ending that grows in intensity.
There have been few occasions on which it has been possible to enjoy this show, which is still practically filming after its presentation in Córdoba in April of this same year.
For this reason, May López returns to her home and her land with a new show waiting to fill the La Merced cultural center with this combination of music and cinema thanks to the bolero. Musical style that makes it easy to take care of the music and the heart, aspects that have always characterized this artist from Llerena on stage.
